Annual Conference 2018 Equality and Inclusion for Street Children

On 8th November we will be hosting our annual conference at Amnesty International’s Human Rights Action Centre here in London. We will examine, debate and discuss how we can combine on-the-ground work with expertise in global advocacy and research to bring about the changes that street-connected children need. Ultimately, we want all governments to take the steps required so that all street children are protected and are able to access the same rights as all other children such as justice, education, healthcare and shelter.

2017 was a momentous year for the Consortium for Street Children and the global movement to defend street-connected children’s rights. The United Nations accepted our position that governments needed specific guidance on how to meet their obligations to street children under the Convention on the Rights of the Child. Now that we have this guidance we need to ensure that it is acted upon – and so the theme for this years conference is equality and inclusion for street-connected children. Ultimately, we want all governments to take the steps required so that all street children are protected and are able to access the same rights as all other children such as justice, education, healthcare and shelter.

Join us on the 8th November to examine, debate and discuss how we can combine on-the-ground work with expertise in global advocacy and research to bring about the changes that street-connected children need.

The conference is open to CSC network members, external NGOs, corporate representatives, donors and researchers who want to connect, discuss and work towards making street-connected children’s rights a reality. There will be panel discussions and workshops focusing on how we can ensure that street-children are included in international development and human rights agendas. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn more about governments’ responsibilities towards street children and advocating for change as well as innovative solutions to making sure street children’s voices are being heard.

Lunch and refreshments will be provided and there will be the opportunity to network with a range of individuals and organisations working to make sure street children are afforded the same rights as all other children over drinks at the end of the day.

We look forward to seeing you on the 8th November!
