Review of street children’s rights in Kenya: Joint Submission for Kenya’s upcoming Universal Periodic Review (UPR)

Published 08/01/2019 By CSC Staff

Consortium for Street Children, along with Chance for Childhood, Don Bosco Mission, Glad’s House, Kenya Good Neighbors, and StreetInvest recently prepared a Joint Submission for the UN Universal Periodic Review (UPR) 35th Session related to Kenya. The UPR is the process by which every UN Member State’s human rights record is reviewed by all other UN Member States on the basis of submissions from civil society organisations and human rights institutions as well as information held by the UN and reports from the state itself.

Our Joint Submission focuses primarily on the violations of street children’s rights by law enforcement and in institutional settings in Kenya and makes recommendations to the Government of Kenya to ensure that the rights of street children are upheld.

The Review of Kenya is due to take place on 23rd January 2020, with a report with recommendations to the Government of Kenya to follow shortly after.

Our Joint Submission is available here.
