Safeguarding

CSC believes that no child should ever have to experience abuse or harm of any kind: we have a responsibility to promote the welfare of children and to keep them safe. We are committed to the protection of all children from all forms of physical or mental violence, injury or abuse, neglect or negligent treatment, maltreatment or exploitation, including sexual violence, as enshrined in the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC).

While CSC has a team based in the UK, we work with and through members of our network and strategic partners in the UK and overseas to deliver programmes and projects in line with our strategic goals. These activities include enabling children to participate in research, advocacy and events and CSC staff’s in-person involvement in partner visits and programme activities. The structure and nature of the CSC network and partnership approach raises specific issues when it comes to our Safeguarding duties and responsibilities. Our Safeguarding Policy aims to outline these in relation to our own work and that which we support through partnerships and provide a clear policy, procedures and tools to ensure that all CSC Representatives are confident in responding to concerns appropriately and in a way that prevents further harm.

CSC operates a zero – tolerance policy towards exploitation and abuse.

CSC’s Designated Safeguarding Lead is Sian Wynne, Director of Programmes for Network, Practice and Children’s Participation.
