Summary

It is a sad fact that many of the most egregious rights violations suffered by children in street situations are committed by those responsible for their protection.

This insight paper, the first in a series produced by CSC as part of our forthcoming State of the World’s Street Children hub, details how law enforcement can impact street-connected children’s lives – positively and negatively. It highlights some of the common themes street-connected children worldwide report in their interactions with police, and explores how stakeholders working with children in street situations might contribute to a global effort to ensure a child rights approach to law enforcement.
