CSC is looking for a new Head of Finance and Operations

Published 08/19/2019 By CSC Staff

We are looking for new Head of Finance and Operations to take the lead in ensuring that Consortium for Street Children are financially sound, with appropriate policies, procedures and operational support in place.  This is a fantastic opportunity  for an accountant or similarly qualified professional who is looking to play an instrumental role in the development and growth of a small  but powerful international human rights organisation.  We focus on the world’s most vulnerable and disenfranchised population, street children,  and use our strength to advocate tirelessly for them.

You will use your finance and operation skills and experience to lead CSC’s financial accountability and all our operations (HR , Governance, Office management and IT). This role also provides an opportunity to take a central and leadership role in ensuring we have the systems in place to grow the organisation, alongside the CEO, Senior Management Team (SMT) and Board of Trustees.  The role will suit a highly organised individual with experience in financial accounting, project accounting, governance and HR, IT and other operational issues of a small organization.  Whilst the ideal candidate will have a background in both finance and operations, we are also open to a qualified accountant who can demonstrate the motivation and ability to quickly develop skills in the operational areas.  A natural problem solver, you will be able to anticipate problems and find ways to ensure we are legally compliant, while using our assets to the best advantage for our programmes. You will report to the Chief Executive, sit on the Senior management Team and assume responsibility for all our finances and operations.

The successful candidate will be joining the organisation at a key moment in its development.  Earlier this year CSC launched our new 5 year strategy, following a review and consultation with our network at the organisation’s 25 year anniversary.  The ambitious strategy envisages 5 goals:

  1. Compel governments to guarantee to street children the same rights as every other child;
  2. Ensure street children are included in International Development and Human Rights agendas;
  3. Strengthen and disseminate data and evidence on street children to accelerate action;
  4. Strengthen and grow our network globally; and
  5. Improve street children’s lives by sharing our network’s unique on-the-ground expertise.

The Head of Finance and Operations will play a crucial senior role in our London based team to ensure we have the sound financial and operational systems in place to achieve these objectives.

You will be joining an organisation whose core values should mirror your own, including diversity, transparency, collaboration, partnership and excellence. We are a motivated team of individuals, each with their own sphere of responsibility, working within a friendly, supportive, and collaborative environment. As an organisation we seek to work flexibly as much as we can, which is why we are open to the number of days the successful candidate can work.

Please send your CV and a cover letter of no more than 1 page (recruitment@streetchildren.org) which outlines how your experience matches the responsibilities of the post, and any information on your motivation to work for a small children’s human rights organisation. We look forward to hearing from you.

Please note that to apply for this position you need to have full and unrestricted right to work in the United Kingdom.
