We reached our target – thank you!

Published 07/31/2021 By Eleanor Hughes

In July, the Consortium for Street Children ran an appeal aiming to raise £10,000 to keep street-connected children safe, healthy and educated as the pandemic continues to rage around the world.

We are delighted to announce that thanks to an incredible show of support from our donors, we have been able to reach our target and have raised £10,355, which includes £5,000 match funding from Andy Kenney.

This support will allow us to:

  • Work with our network members to consolidate and amplify innovative and creative practices to ensure continuity of services since the start of the pandemic. This will be done through facilitating opportunities to share learnings through webinars, working groups and our annual network forum.
  • Train our network members, who have worked directly with street children throughout the pandemic, to advocate for better services for the children they work with and ensure they are safe and included, for example through having a safe place to shelter, and a better relationship with the police.
  • Share our findings on the impact of the pandemic on street children, as well as responses and opportunities. We will bring this report to decision-makers in national governments and the UN to ensure continuity of support for a group who risk being even further left behind.
  • Bring street children’s voices directly to the highest-level decision-makers in the national governments and the UN to advocate for access to essential services as they respond to and recover from the pandemic.

Thank you to everyone who has donated to this campaign. We look forward to sharing updates on our work in this area in January 2022.
