Summary

Reach Within (RW) aims to support vulnerable children who have been affected by trauma or loss by providing them and their caregivers with tools for the development of hope and healing. Upon its founding in 2008, RW worked on the ground providing psycho-social programs for youth and training for their caregivers. Building on the success of these programs, RW has now developed a new model of care for orphans that can be used in multiple settings worldwide: The Reach Within model of care.

Reach Within curriculum is trauma-sensitive and incorporates methods and resources from both Karma Kids Yoga, Conscious Discipline® and Touchpoints. Our Reach Within classes teach children to better regulate and express their emotions and teach them valuable life skills that help them overcome prior adversities so they can lead empowered lives.

We believe that children are best served when they are developing in a loving and supportive environment. Therefore, we offer training and support to promote skillful child-rearing practices and positive attachments between the children and their caregivers.

Reach Within’s Caregiver Education Program focuses on the use of positive parenting techniques. With these skills, caregivers promote healthy interactions with the children and learn tools to turn conflicts into opportunities for personal growth. Monthly education for caregivers and management, in conjunction with ongoing coaching, and periodic retreats, serve to equip caregivers with improved discipline practices and help the children to grow both socially and emotionally.
