Summary

Children involved in multiple economic activities due to mostly for mere survival
have been found almost in each and every developing country. But the nature and
intensity of child labor vary from region to region, depending on the socio-economic
condition of a particular society in which the children live. It goes without saying that
most of the children of our country are deprived of their basic needs because of
deteriorating socio-economic condition, being pushed in the kind of works which are very harmful for their physical and mental growth, and of course some of the works they perform are very risky to their life. Keeping in view the above situation of our unfortunate children, an effort has been made to investigate the present scenario of child labor in Sylhet, a metropolitan city of Bangladesh.
