Summary

This is a book of words and pictures written, drawn and photographed by children, and about children in a place in China that is badly affected by HIV/AIDS. The ideas and stories of children’s lives came from children’s workshops and their ‘little journalists’ research project. At the workshops children raised and discussed issues and perceptions of their lives, families, communities and problems. They then did research and showed their abilities and hopes to become the `backbone of the country’. They believe that children from poor families can make great achievements. They recognise the importance and contribution of government, and that they need help to realise their dreams and potential. Through the workshops and the subsequent children’s forum, children demonstrated their resilience and potential development.
