Summary

This study investigates to what extent Upendo Daima and Kuleana have contributed to the re-socialization process of street children and examines the role of the aligned schools in the inclusion process of these street children through primary education in Mwanza city. Street children, the offspring of today’s complex urban realities worldwide, represent one of the most serious, urgent and rapidly growing socio-educational challenges. On the African continent, street children have become a familiar phenomenon, especially in big cities. In Tanzania, a country with only a few big cities, this phenomenon has grown at an alarming rate. In the second largest city of Tanzania, Mwanza, the number of street children has continued to escalate every year; this city is chosen to conduct the fieldwork for this study.
